Dr. Brett A. Blair

“I know what it feels like to watch the floor disappear.”

In 2009, I walked away from a 20-year corporate career. I know what it means to sit in the dark and ask: what happened to me? I’ve spent the years since earning a PhD studying men who went through exactly this — and then rebuilding my own life multiple times. I’m not here to give you a pep talk. I’m here to give you a map.

— Dr. Brett A. Blair, PhD

You are not behind. You are not broken. You are in transition.

Action Plan

Four Things to Do Right Now

Before you update your LinkedIn or send a single application, do these four things first.

01

Process the Loss First

What you're feeling is grief, not weakness. The research is clear: professionals who skip the emotional work stall out. Give yourself permission to feel the loss before you rush to fix it.

02

Secure Your Financial Foundation

Job loss triggers financial fear — and fear leads to costly mistakes. Cashing out retirement accounts early, taking the first offer just for the paycheck, making decisions you'll regret. Before you touch your 401k or make any major money moves, let's have a quick conversation. I'll help you think it through and point you to the right resources.

Let's think this through together
03

Build AI Fluency — Fast

You don't need to become an engineer. I'm a psychologist who turned 65 and rebuilt an entire business using AI — starting from zero. The barrier isn't technical. It's psychological. If I can do it, I can show you the door. The rest is up to you.

Let's talk about what's possible
04

Redesign Your Next Chapter

This is not the time for desperation. It is the time for intentionality. What do you actually want the next chapter to look like? That question deserves a real answer.

Let's design your next chapter

About Dr. Brett Blair

I’ve Been Where You Are. More Than Once.

I’m a psychologist, executive coach, and researcher who has navigated layoff, divorce, major loss, and multiple complete reinventions — including walking away from a 20-year corporate career at 45, earning a PhD at 60, and rebuilding my life after the death of my wife.

My doctoral research focused on the lived experience of mid-career professionals who go through a layoff and successfully come back. I interviewed 11 men who went through exactly what you’re facing. Every single one ended up saying it was the best thing that ever happened to them — but not without doing the real work first.

I’m not selling optimism. I’m offering a map built from research and hard-won experience.
